Muhurat
Choosing an auspicious time
A muhurat is a window, not a verdict. Here is what each of the day's windows means, and how the five limbs of the panchang combine when you are picking a time.

Today's windows
Live, for the default city. Every city has its own — the windows follow local sunrise.
Auspicious
Abhijit
The eighth of fifteen day-muhurats, straddling midday. Overrides most minor blemishes — but does not exist on Wednesdays.
Not today
Brahma Muhurat
Roughly ninety minutes before sunrise. For study, meditation and practice rather than transactions.
04:23 – 05:06
Vijaya
The eleventh day-muhurat. For contests, negotiations and anything to be won.
14:39 – 15:32
Godhuli
The cow-dust hour at sunset. Favoured for marriage in several traditions.
18:33 – 19:33
Nishita
Around midnight. Shiva worship, Janmashtami and night vrats.

To avoid
Rahu Kaal
The most widely observed. Nothing new is begun here.
12:26 – 14:05
Yamaganda
07:28 – 09:07
Gulika Kaal
Whatever begins here is said to repeat.
10:47 – 12:26
Also check the Vishti (Bhadra) karana, which halts auspicious work for its whole duration and recurs eight times a month.

What to look for
These are the conventional considerations, not a calculation. Where a decision matters, the day's windows narrow the field and a priest with the charts settles it.
Naming ceremony (Namkaran)
Traditionally the 11th or 12th day after birth.
A Purna or Nanda tithi, a soft nakshatra, and Abhijit Muhurat if the day allows. Avoid Rikta tithis and Vishti karana.
Find a name by nakshatra →Housewarming (Griha Pravesh)
Uttarayana is preferred; Chaturmas is generally avoided.
A Bhadra or Purna tithi, a fixed (dhruva) nakshatra, and a Shubh or Amrit choghadiya. Avoid Rahu Kaal entirely.
Marriage (Vivah)
The season reopens at Dev Uthani Ekadashi in Kartika.
This one genuinely needs both charts — the panchang alone cannot answer it. Use the day's windows to narrow, then consult a priest with the horoscopes.
Check Guna Milan compatibility →New business or venture
Any day the limbs agree.
A Labh or Amrit choghadiya, a Mercury or Jupiter hora, a Bhadra tithi. Vriddhi and Siddhi yoga are especially favoured.
Vehicle purchase
Often on a Friday or Thursday.
A Char choghadiya suits anything that moves. Avoid Vishti karana and the Rikta tithis.
Travel and journeys
Check the day's disha shool for your direction.
Char or Labh choghadiya, and a Saptami tithi is traditionally favoured for setting out.
The framework
How the five limbs combine
Muhurat selection looks for agreement across the limbs rather than one good sign. A favourable yoga does not rescue a Rikta tithi, and a strong nakshatra does not cancel Vishti karana.
The tithi sets the character of the work through its group: Nanda, Bhadra, Jaya, Rikta, Purna. The vaara contributes its lord's nature — Thursday for ceremony and finance, Tuesday for anything adversarial. The nakshatra is often the deciding limb for ceremonies. Yoga and karana mostly act as vetoes: they rarely make a day, but Vyatipata, Vaidhriti and Vishti can unmake one.
Within a suitable day, the choghadiya and hora narrow things to the hour, and Abhijit is the conventional fallback when nothing else lines up.
What we deliberately do not do: hand you a single “best time” from a form. That answer depends on factors a public page does not have — your birth chart above all — and a confident-looking result computed from a subset of them would be worse than no result. We give you the windows, computed exactly, and leave the judgement where it belongs.
